Mr Terry Doyle - Chair of Governors and Foundation Governor
A former Cardinal Langley pupil. I am married to a teacher who works in Blackburn and have 3 children, all of whom attended St. Peter’s prior to continuing their education at Cardinal Langley. Whilst the youngest remains there studying for his A Levels, the 2 older children are now at Newcastle University.
After service as a Royal Navy Officer, I have spent 20 years working within Financial Services, including the last 11 years managing an independent mortgage brokerage.
As a Foundation Governor for over 10 years, I am Chair of the Resources Committee and serve on the Pupil and Curriculum Committee.
Mrs Maria Sowerby
My name is Maria Sowerby and i am a Foundation Governor at St. Peter’s Catholic Primary School.
I have lived in St. Peters parish for over 30 years and before that Our Lady’s parish on Langley. As a child I lived and was educated in Co. Armagh, Northern Ireland and am very proud of my Irish heritage. While at college I met my future husband and settled in Middleton where we raised our 3 children. I take an active role in the parish life of St. Peter’s being a reader and a member of the SVP.
For almost 30 years I was a primary school teacher, working mainly in the Infant department of Christ the King Catholic Primary School in Newton Heath and have many happy memories of my time there. My main responsibility there was as R.E. Co-ordinator.
Mr Krzysztof Sobieraj
Polish! Manchester United Fan.
I am 43 years of age and have been married to Kasia for 15 years, we have a son Rafal who is 7 and a foster daughter Jessica 8 months whom we hope to adopt in the very near future and a black labrador dog Goral who is 2.
I enjoy nearly all sports including football, running and mountain biking. I thoroughly enjoy playing golf and hope to have extra time in the future to play a lot more. I like to spend time with my family and I especially like being outdoors.
I’ve recently changed careers after 15 years and have returned to my passion of landscape gardening, of which I studied and graduated at the Welsh College of Horticulture.
I’m a practising Catholic and very proud to be an active Parishioner at St. Peter’s RC Church and Primary School.
I also have a very keen interest in music, listening as well as playing and cooking.
Mr Nick Platt
I have lived in Middleton for the last 3 years, having resided in and around Manchester for the last 20 years following my initial move to study some 25 years ago. I made it my home, got married here, raised a family and am very happy to now have two little Mancunians of my own, one of whom attends St Peter's.
I've always worked in the appliance industry, covering a variety of commercial roles but by far and away the best and most rewarding job I've had is that of a Daddy to 2 beautiful girls.
I'm personally invested in helping the school in anyway possible deliver the best education and learning environment for our children.
Mr Marcel Sousa
Born in Brazil, I moved to London with my mother when I was 10 years old and spent my secondary years at London Oratory School in Fulham. The school backed onto Stamford Bridge so I am a proud Chelsea fan, a rarity in Middleton.
I graduated in Manufacturing and Management and have had a varied career. I have worked in food manufacturing, composite materials manufacturing, as a translator and interpreter, and for the past 10 years in a commercial role for a water technology company specialising in the maritime and offshore industry.
I have 2 children who are both at this wonderful school. They are Sofia and Jackson who are my world, and I am married to the beautiful Laura. In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis and doing a bit gardening.
