Welcome to our forest school page.

Come and have a look at all of the fun we have been having outside!

We love spending time outside.

We have been looking at the different signs of Autumn. We have looked at what happens to the trees in Autumn. We know that some trees (deciduous) lose their leaves in autumn time and some trees (evergreen) keep their leaves all year round. We loved playing in the crunch leaves.

Maths Outdoors

We have been using sticks to help us understand longer and shorter vocabulary.

Toasting Marshmallows

We loved toasting our very own marshmallows. We were very careful around the fire pit and worked hard to listen to instructions on how to keep ourselves safe. We talked about how the marshmallows change when they get hotter with the flames. 'The snow is melting I think my bottom is warming it up' -Rocco.  We thought the marshmallows tasted YUMMY!

There’s dirt on my shirt

And leaves in my hair.

There’s mud on my boots

But I don’t really care!

Learning outside is so much fun!

To breathe the clean air

And feel the warm sun.

To stomp in a puddle

Or climb a big tree.

Makes me quite happy

Just look and you’ll see!

Exploring our new garden

We love our new garden area. We can't wait to spend even more time in it. Exploring and learning with our friends.

Den Building

We LOVED working as a team to build our very own dens. Miss Barrett and Mrs Noble were very impressed with how well we worked together. We had to work hard to think about what kind of materials we should use to make the best den. We learnt about the word 'waterproof' and how the materials would need to be this so that we wouldn't get wet. We made pillows and beds out of leaves because we think they would be soft for us to sleep on.

A Walk in the Woods

We loved exploring the woods with our friends.

Forest School

Below is a snapshot of what we have previously done in our Forest School sessions. in E.Y.F.S and Year 1.

Toasting Marshmallows

This week the children in year one and reception had a fantastic time toasting marshmallows outside as part of their forest school session. Miss Barrett, Mrs Millward, Mrs Beaumont, Mrs Noble and all of the children had a fabulous time! The children were fantastic at staying safe around the fire pit and following all of the rules. The children can't wait to have another go!

Walks in the woods.

We love to walk in the woods and splash in the puddles.

Story time

We love listening to stories outside, playing in the mud, collecting sticks and using our imagination to turn them into lots of different things like a magic wand, fishing rod or a flute.

Leaf Rubbings

We had lots of fun hunting for leaves and creating some beautiful leaf rubbings.

Dens and walks in the woods

We did a great job working together to build our own dens. Oh and what forest school session would be complete without a walk in the woods and a jump in some mud!

Nature Crowns

We have made our very own nature crowns.

Bonfire Night

We made firework and rocket pictures using natural materials for bonfire night.

MUD, MUD, EVERYWHERE!

Orienteering

We love orienteering. We have to follow a map carefully to find all of the control points hidden around the school grounds. We had so much fun!!

We had so much fun following our maps to find control points and discover the hidden words - FOREST SCHOOL.

Great Fire of London

We made our very own Wattle and Daub wall.

Telling the time

We made clocks outside and had a go at showing different times.

Leaf Rubbings

We have been using leaves to create rubbings on paper and natural materials to make pictures.
