The whole class listened reverently and reflected thoughtfully about each one.

Easter Egg Hunt

As a treat for filling the marble jar, we had a whole school Eater Egg Hunt! Everyone had an amazing time searching for their class colour of eggs. Only a few pictures as everyone (including staff) were having so much fun!

Science Week

As part of science week we had a visitor from Manchester Museum. We were extremely lucky to have a visit from an Egyptologist.

As part of the workshop we were given the challenge to be a curator for an exhibition set in 2050 - Carbon Ruins. We had to imagine what we have now that will be in a museum by then - state the reasons why and what will have changed by then.
We have submitted our ideas into the competition at the museum, so hopefully some of our work will be displayed.

World Book Day 2024

Story time with our buddies in Reception

Science -Light

We have been learning about light and how light travels in straight lines. Today we made periscopes.

Geography Trip to Castleshaw

As part of our learning in Geography about climate change we visited Castleshaw to learn more about wind turbines. After kitting ourselves up in water-proofs we headed out into the hills on a ramble up to some small wind turbines. Lots of fun was had walking up a flowing stream, splashing in deep puddles, seeing lots of friendly dogs and then reaching the wind turbines.

After our walk we headed inside the education centre and in role debated the installation of wind turbines on the local land. Roles played were land owners the council, farmers, small business owners, energy company investors - all of the children did this amazingly, we were so proud watching and listening to their reasons.

Next we had the opportunity to work in small groups to make mini wind turbines and then test them out outside in the wind. They all worked fantastically.

A great day was had by all - we would definitely recommend a visit to Castleshaw.

Design and Technology

During this half term we have designed playgrounds, considered how to make sturdy structures, made and evaluated our playgrounds. We have thoroughly enjoyed making these and are really proud of how our designs came to life.

Christmas Party Day

Today we had a wonderful Christmas Party Day.  We had lots of dancing, singing, party game, party food and secret Santa.

Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year to everybody!

Willow Weaving

Today we worked with Art Room UK to learn how to Willow Weave. We first learnt about Willow trees, where they grow and where they are harvested and then how they are soaked in water for an amount of weeks depending on their length so that it it flexible to work with.

Next we made a Christmas decoration each to take home to our families.

Throughout the day we worked in small groups and created two amazing reading pods that we are going to keep inside school for ch8dren to use if they want to quiet read.

Marble Treat

At last we earned our first marble treat. the children voted to have a cosy, movie and goodies afternoon.

Maths Workshops

A group of children have been lucky to be invited to Rochdale Sixth Form College to work with students who are studying Maths.  These students, alongside their teachers are running workshops for three weeks for small groups to attend.  The children have thoroughly enjoyed their sessions and have been really enthused to share their experience with the rest of the class.

Week 1

Week 2

We will Remember...

On Friday 10th November, Year 2 and Year 6 visited Middleton Cenotaph to pay our respects to all those that have lost their lives, fighting to keep people in Britain safe.

Our beautiful service was led by the children whom read prayers and sang songs. At 11am, we held two minutes silence so we could think about those that have fallen.  We placed crosses in the ground to remember those whom we have lost. We laid a special wreath for Jim Healy who sadly passed away last year. We miss him dearly.

Thank you to all of the children for their respect and reverence. You did us proud!

Science

in our Science this half term we have been learning about electricity.
We have learnt how to draw circuits using scientific symbols and how to make circuits.

No Room For Racism

Today we had a wonderful workshop with Graham for Rochdale Football Club. We learnt about discrimination and racism.  We watched video clips from football stars who shared their stories and experiences. We worked together to solve word puzzles which gave definitions and created posters and poems to share the message wi5 others.
Thank you Graham and Premier League Primary Stars.

Crucial Crew

This week we attended Crucial Crew at Rochdale Football Club. We had a range of workshops from services such as British Transport Police for railways and metro, Rochdale Council, Nurses and the Police.
We were surprised how much money is spent on littering as this could provide up to 6 news parks for children if people did not litter.
we really enjoyed the workshops and learnt lots of new information to keep ourselves and others safe.

Maths

In Maths we have exploring squared and cubed numbers. To help us understand the calculating we made square and cubed numbers using cubes. This helped understand 2D, 3D and volume.
