Welcome to our phonics workshop. We held this in person in April, but here is a copy of everything in case you were unable to attend.

If you do have any questions once you have looked at everything on this page, please do feel free to get in touch.

Please scroll to the bottom for resources and websites for you to use at home with your child.

Thank you for your continued support

Mrs Beaumont, Mrs Jones, Miss Barrett and Miss Brough

Phonics at St Peter's

The document below explains how phonics is taught and what you can do at home to support your child.

Phonics Screening Check

The document below is about the phonics screening check that the children in year one will sit this year. The test is currently scheduled for the week beginning - Monday 10th June 2024

It is vital that children are in school during this week. Due to government guidelines on assessments, children will not have another opportunity to re-sit the screening check in Year 1 if they are absent.

You can also find further information on the phonics screening check using the link below.

Phonics Powerpoints

Although we no longer follow the "Letters and Sounds" scheme and use chapters instead of phases, the powerpoints below are still great resources for children to use to practise blending and reading lots of words and tricky words.

"Phase 2" is the easiest, with "phase 5" being the most challenging.
